Inglewood Community Board

The Inglewood Community Board represents your local community and advocates to New Plymouth District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of five members: four members elected by voters, and one member from the New Plymouth District Council.  This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Inglewood Community Board election.

Why I'm standing

I bring a wide range of skills and experience with me as an organiser, educator, former STDC district councillor and television producer and presenter. I have deep feelings for this area as I go back five generations to my great great grandfather Alois Klenner. Since 2020, Inglewood has been part of my working base as an event organiser, television storyteller and educator. I believe Inglewood has long been a centre of innovation and I want to encourage more.

About me

I have long believed in creating activity within a community. History shows this to be the case. I was one of the organisers for the first Rhododendron Festival, later for the Fringe Garden Festival and in recent years with my wife Karen running events in Studio 64 and the Soundshed. I feel this experience will transpose to my role on the community board, helping create future vibrancy within the board area and making good use of facilities.

My priorities
  1. Care for people, their needs, cultural experiences and stories while building positive futures.
  2. Build a healthy environment where land use is sustainable and productive and water and air are clean.
  3. Work towards healthy communities both urban and rural where everyone can contribute and shine.
