Kaipara District Council

Kaiwaka-Mangawhai Ward
The Kaipara District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of nine councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). three councillors will be elected from the Kaiwaka-Mangawhai ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Use private partners and council oversight to boost plastic and glass recycling by cash incentives and urban composting for less landfill.

  • Commit council to ensuring that land developers adopt practices that prevent run-off into estuaries, harbours and the oceans.

    Commit council to initiating kerbside organic collection.

    Create a mechanism and funding to encourage farmers to participate in riparian planting of their waterways.

  • Improve monitoring and enforcement to protect waterways.

    Reduce waste to landfill by improving recycling systems and creating local composting options for food waste.
