Why I'm standing

We are facing major challenges - housing, rising rates, water, repairing our roads and paths; let's invest responsibly and prudently to improve Kāpiti for all, for the long term. We have a changing climate that will affect our coast and waterways. We need to have respectful, open, honest and informed conversations to make evidence-based decisions. As a civil engineer with forty years of experience, I have the skills to bring light, not heat, to that debate.

About me

As a new councillor, I'm not tied to old decisions, nor will I make undeliverable promises to secure your vote. I did not have a seat at the council table when a 17% rates rises was agreed, nor do I have any affiliation to another group or party – I am solely interested in listening, advocating where needed, challenging and acting for all of us – to work with YOU.

My priorities
  1. Focus on delivering savings on the proposed rate rises, including lower pay for councillors.
  2. Reset work on coastal erosion and flooding to a 20-year horizon, updated every 5 years with the latest science.
  3. Stop spending on underperforming economic development work and realise a saving of around $10 million.
