Why I'm standing
To make a difference! Having moved to Kāpiti 15 years ago, I love the place. I've brought up my kids, had hospitality businesses in Paraparaumu and am involved in community groups. I have 35 years’ experience as a hospitality entrepreneur and business owner and six years full time as Paraparaumu ward councillor. I am asking for the opportunity to continue to apply that skill set and knowledge for the benefit of our Paraparaumu community.
About me
Attitude, knowledge and skill set. Council is a large and complex business. It takes time to accumulate the knowledge, understandings and relationships to be effective at the table and behind the scenes, which I have done for the past six years. This enables effective advocating for Paraparaumu as a whole and also in assisting individual locals who are having issues with their dealings with Kāpiti Coast District Council, which I have done many times. I get things done.
My priorities
- Bring rates back in line with the 5% ceiling of average household income. It went past last long term plan.
- Advocate for health services including 24-hour urgent care and linkage to Wellington hospital as identified by community consultation.
- Advocate for an indoor sports centre to be built in Paraparaumu by the pool. Your needs my focus.
