Why I'm standing

To make a difference! Having moved to Kāpiti 15 years ago, I love the place. I've brought up my kids, had hospitality businesses in Paraparaumu and am involved in community groups. I have 35 years’ experience as a hospitality entrepreneur and business owner and six years full time as Paraparaumu ward councillor. I am asking for the opportunity to continue to apply that skill set and knowledge for the benefit of our Paraparaumu community.

About me

Attitude, knowledge and skill set. Council is a large and complex business. It takes time to accumulate the knowledge, understandings and relationships to be effective at the table and behind the scenes, which I have done for the past six years. This enables effective advocating for Paraparaumu as a whole and also in assisting individual locals who are having issues with their dealings with Kāpiti Coast District Council, which I have done many times. I get things done.

My priorities
  1. Bring rates back in line with the 5% ceiling of average household income. It went past last long term plan.
  2. Advocate for health services including 24-hour urgent care and linkage to Wellington hospital as identified by community consultation.
  3. Advocate for an indoor sports centre to be built in Paraparaumu by the pool. Your needs my focus.
