Paraparaumu General Ward
The Kāpiti Coast District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of ten councillors and the mayor. three councillors will be elected from the Paraparaumu ward. The other councillors will be elected from other wards or by all voters in the district. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Local authorities are at the forefront of efforts to respond, with responsibilities for environmental planning and regulation, as well as civil defence. Many councils have plans to reduce emissions in their area and are working to help their communities adapt to a warming world.

    Develop child safe cycling networks within current pathway, egress and street linkage encouraging cycling to school instead of drop-offs.

    Work with council to incorporate emergency preparedness and resilience into day to day planning and community development for dual purpose.

  • Cut emissions through efficiency in council buildings, transport and planning – saving money while protecting the environment.

    Engage with locals who know our coast to shape practical, affordable resilience plans for sea-level rise and coastal hazards.

    Strengthen civil defence readiness by supporting local volunteers and ensuring the community can respond quickly to disasters.
