Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board

The Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of seven members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Empower local mana whenua and community groups to facilitate Taiao local ecosystems programmes and pest-free initiatives.

    Ensure the local board receives its equitable share of the water quality targeted rate, ensuring Te Ararata, Harania and Oruarangi are taken care of.

    Ensure waste management and refuse level of services are retained weekly.

  • Actively support the Mangere Otahuhu sustainability network as it promotes and collaborates around waterways, biodiversity and pest control.

    Promote the aspirations of manawhenua and the community to protect taiao including wetlands, maunga and areas of significance.

    Require development of housing, roading and other projects to have an environmental benefit and risk component in their planning process.
