Te Aroha General Ward
The Matamata-Piako District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). three councillors will be elected from the Te Aroha ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Invest in two community vans that consistently travel between Matamata, Morrinsville and Te Aroha.

    Invest in upskilling local people for licences if they already have a minimum full licence.

  • Actively advocate to government to reduce onerous requirements around traffic safety management to free funds up to be spent where required.

    Advocate to central government to restore the national roading budget so more road work can be done locally.

    Increase focus on road maintenance and upgrades if required.
