Why I'm standing

I'm standing because Napier deserves leadership that truly listens, includes, and acts with integrity. With over 35 years in health, education, te reo Māori, and mātauranga Māori, and 25 years in governance, I bring proven experience and a deep commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. I believe in decisions shaped by whānau, hapū, iwi, community voices, so together, we can build a safer, fairer, and more connected Napier that thrives now and into the future.

About me

I bring governance, business, and community leadership together. I've been a co-chair of a national organisation, a banking manager, and am a current member of the Institute of Directors. I created Ngā Tapuwae a te Māreikura, am chair for a MWWL Peka, and have won education and business awards. I am recognised as a change leader in education, and want to serve the people of Napier with integrity, transparency, ensuring voices are genuinely heard.

My priorities
  1. Invest in safe water and housing by delivering clean water, protecting whenua and building affordable homes.
  2. Strengthen climate resilience with Māori-led, science-based solutions for flood-prone, coastal areas.
  3. Embed genuine community voice by honouring Te Tiriti, holding hui and ensuring transparent, inclusive decisions.
