Otago Peninsula Community Board

The Otago Peninsula Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Dunedin City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of six members. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Whether public transport is the responsibility of the regional or local council depends on where you are in the country. Local councils also own 87% of New Zealand’s roads.

  • Ensure completion of the Peninsula Connection Project.

    Move towards all bus routes being serviced by electric buses.

    Provide public buses to Taiaroa Head.

  • Improve bus timetables for the Otago Peninsula with a focus on more regular and reliable buses.

    Improve the transparency of contracts for road and cycleway maintenance.

    Increase road safety through townships and suburbs, especially surrounding kura.

  • Advocate for continued improvements in public transport connectivity with regional council and bus stop improvements with city council.

    Advocate for improved road conditions by fixing potholes, upgrading rural roads and ensuring safer travel for residents and visitors.

    Encourage development of a shared path campaign recognising those with accessibility needs, including sight and hearing loss.
