Why I'm standing

I believe we have a responsibility to leave the world a better place for the young people of today, and I am running because we need people at the council table who are willing to make bold and ambitious decisions to address the impacts of climate change to protect our people. We also need to make sure there are opportunities for young people and nature to thrive in this city for generations to come.

About me

I have been a high school teacher for 8 years and I currently teach here in Porirua, returning after some time in policy at the Ministry for the Environment. Because of this experience, I understand the concerns and challenges facing young people and also the positive outcomes council can achieve when the community is genuinely empowered to help make decisions.

My priorities
  1. Focus on stronger planning for climate impacts and greater investment in resilience and emissions reductions.
  2. Restore environment by planting more trees and supporting restoration and predator free groups.
  3. Strengthen local democracy through citizen's assemblies and reinstating the Youth Council.
