Why I'm standing

I'm worried about the potential privatisation of our water resources increasing financial hardship for our people. That and concern about three major debacles involving 1) direct debit rates, 2) failure to secure planning consent for an infrastructural project and 3) a loan to an external organisation during just this last council term, alone. These have left me with the feeling that we deserve better and can do better.

About me

I have an understanding of financial statements and I've worked as a committee secretary, which gave me useful insight into the organisation and workings of councils and their managerial practices. I listen and know how to ask questions. I also encourage debate, as a means of examining subjects from all angles and getting to consensus decision-making. My persona of Evan the Viking is well suited for representing heritage and promoting the district beyond our boundaries.

My priorities
  1. Employ a competent CEO with the wellbeing of the district and people at the heart of their focus.
  2. Ensure that water resources are not privatised.
  3. Rebuild the lost confidence in the council.
