Why I'm standing

I am frustrated at the constant increase in our rates bill, I believe they are unaffordable for many ratepayers and may ultimately force them out of their homes. I do not believe we are getting value for money, and fiscal waste is rampant. I also believe ratepayers deserve much better service from the council than they are getting at present – I believe this has been borne out by the recent satisfaction survey.

About me

I am a retried pharmacist and experienced business owner, with decades of involvement in rural healthcare and governance. I was an executive councillor on the Pharmacy Guild of NZ for 10 years and as such aware of the workload involved with being on council. I believe in individual rights and the responsibilities that go with those rights.

My priorities
  1. Cut the wasteful spending of ratepayers' money and keep rates low.
  2. Focus the council on the basics like infrastructure and essential services, not nice-to-haves.
  3. Cut red tape so ratepayers can flourish at home, at work and at play.
