Mayor of Taupō

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Taupo District Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

My goal is to use my commercial and volunteer community experience to help run a cost-effective and safe town that we can all afford to live in.

About me

I have a long track record in both business and NGOs, running organisations effectively and within budget. I understand the value of a dollar, and I pledge to treat ratepayers money as I treat my own – with respect and not to be wasted.

My priorities
  1. Control the costs of the council and hold rate increases to a maximum of inflation.
  2. Provide core services, roads, water and waste (solid and liquid).
