Upper Harbour Local Board

The Upper Harbour Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of six members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Invest in community-led organisations, boosting arts, sports and culture to allow communities to activate in a way that serves them.

    Support a wide range of community events, cultural, sports and arts to get the community out and about and to get to know each other.

  • Build a new library in Albany. The land and $10 million are available, most background work is done and now the board needs to approve this project.

    Protect North Harbour Stadium, Westpark Marina, Wasp Hangar and Bomb Point and keep them in public ownership in perpetuity.

    Support local festivals like Diwali, Lantern Festival, Eid and Open Art Studios to celebrate local creatives and placemaking.

    Maintain and keep tidy more than 200 parks, and raise awareness of these green spaces.

    Use community festivals as platforms for more cultural collaboration, for example Diwali festival having performances representing Chinese culture.

  • Deliver a new, larger replacement for the Albany Library. The new facility will also be a community hub.

    Deliver a pool for the northwest of Auckland to serve the communities of Whenuapai, Hobsonville and West Harbour.

    Move beyond traditional sports in planning for infrastructure by providing more indoor courts, basketball facilities and fields.
