Why I'm standing

I became interested in how I could use my skills to help my own city after a working life in a CRI helping businesses across New Zealand thrive and especially get into exports as retirement age approached. I became involved in the Christchurch Coastal Pathway Project and through presenting that to council and community board became interested in local politics and stood successfully for election for Heathcote ward.

About me

I have a PhD in organic chemistry and also studied economics at university. My working life involved putting science to use, especially setting up projects, building relationships with project partners, securing funding and overseeing design, execution and completion of projects. I love community board work because it involves projects. Community board work gives me the ability to use my lifetime of skills for the benefit of my city.

My priorities
  1. Make sure all community board and council work is run effectively and efficiently to keep costs low.
  2. Engage with community so good ideas from the community are taken up and acted upon as appropriate.
  3. Protect and restore the wonderful natural environment including rivers, bush, hills and beaches.
