Waikato General Constituency
The Waikato Regional Council makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of 14 councillors. Councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region). two councillors will be elected from the Waikato constituency. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. I'm standing for re‑election because I believe in a Waikato where communities, industries and the environment thrive. Over the past 6 years, including 3 as WRC Chair, I've worked tirelessly advocating for practical, cost-effective solutions and empowering community voices. I'm committed to honest collaboration, resilient infrastructure and sustainable growth. I'll continue to bring my experience and strong regional networks to build a Waikato we can all be proud of, today and for generations to come.

About me

As a long-term Waikato resident with 25 years governance experience, including 3 as council chair, I bring strong leadership and dedicated delivery. A proud food producer and community leader, I'm committed to fairness, integrity and empowering our region. My proven track record, central government connections and collaborative style ensure Waikato's voice is heard. I deliver practical, fiscally responsible decisions that protect ratepayers and build a sustainable, thriving future.

My priorities
  1. Strengthen climate resilience through targeted flood protection and infrastructure.
  2. Advocate for workable regulatory frameworks that reflect the environment and regional priorities.
  3. Partner with local and central government to build efficient networks, unlocking the Golden Triangle's potential.
