Mayor of Waimakariri

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Waimakariri District Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I'm standing for a third term because we've built strong momentum, but there's more to do. I'm proud to lead a council that is both efficient and people focused, delivering results while planning for the future. I care deeply about the Waimakariri District and making it a great place for people now and in the future.

About me

My 21 years as an elected member and the last 6 years as mayor. I understand the needs of our community and how best to advocate and represent them.

My priorities
  1. Keep rates affordable without compromising the level of service.
  2. Work with central government to establish sustainable funding models especially for roading.
  3. Manage and plan for growth as Waimakariri is one of the fastest growing districts in NZ.
