Waimarino-Waiouru Community Board

The Waimarino-Waiouru Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Ruapehu District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of six members: five members elected by voters, and one member from the Ruapehu District Council.  This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Waimarino-Waiouru Community Board election.

Why I'm standing

I believe we have not been well served over a number of years with debt increasing out of control and no policies in place to manage and reduce this. Our communities' aspirations are ignored and the consultation process on change is flawed so as not to encourage true public engagement. We need better waste management to reduce waste production in the region. We need effective fiscal management reducing debt and holding rates as low as possible.

About me

I am extremely community minded, having served on numerous committees and being willing to help new initiatives and businesses. I believe in walking the talk and listening as these are our communities, these are our families, this is our home. By listening to the passions of our communities and ensuring I understand their expectations, I will work hard to ensure the policies and operational output from council meet your expectations and your investment through your rates.

My priorities
  1. Ensure effective waste management and recycling across the region to achieve zero waste by 2040.
  2. Ensure council policies allow for effective scrutiny of council finances against budget.
  3. Develop community business loans through viable partnerships that encourage new local businesses.
