Wairoa Māori Ward
The Wairoa District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of six councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). three councillors will be elected from the Wairoa ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. I am standing for Wairoa District Council to bring creative, innovative, and indigenous solutions that strengthen our community. With a proven governance record, strong research skills, and certification in RMA decision making, I will ensure decisions are fair, well-informed, and future-focused. I value innovation, evidence, and action, and will work to build a cost-effective, resilient Wairoa where our people and environment thrive together. A proven local Taiao champion who has offerings for the authorities too.

I stand as a sovereign yet community-focused leader, grounded in mātauranga Māori, upholding equity, kaitiakitanga, and fairness for all.

My priorities
  1. Invest in safe water and roads, using innovation and mātauranga Māori.
  2. Build cost-effective, climate-smart assets to protect Wairoa long term.
  3. Keep rates fair and affordable without pushing community into hardship.
