Mayor of Whangārei

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. My focus is on getting the basics right, which includes strong infrastructure, safe roads, reliable water services, and clear, transparent leadership. I believe in local solutions for local challenges and working together to build a resilient, thriving district. With your support, I'll continue to lead with experience, integrity, and a commitment to real progress for all of Whangārei. Let's keep moving forward – together.

I bring experience, integrity, and a deep commitment to Whangārei. As mayor, I've focused on delivering the essentials – safe roads, reliable infrastructure, and strong local control over our water services. I listen, I act, and I make decisions that put our community first. I'm practical, approachable, and not afraid to tackle the tough issues. I believe in open, honest leadership and working together to build a stronger, more resilient district for everyone.

My priorities
  1. Ensure roads, water, wastewater and stormwater are reliable and resilient for future growth.
  2. Keep water services in local hands through smart, regional collaboration that is affordable.
  3. Deliver essential services without wasteful spending and make every dollar count.
