Auckland Council

Albert-Eden-Puketāpapa Ward
The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). Two councillors will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council election.

Why I'm standing

Auckland City is confronted with a series of very large policy decisions including transport priorities, environmental policy, light rail, Auckland Port and a possible large Auckland waterfront project. I believe I have the skills to contribute to these and other important projects that are vital for the future of Auckland. I will approach them with logic and realism and apply my commercial background to decision making.

About me

I have a varied background, having lived extensively in Australia and NZ. I am local and went to Manurewa High School and completed a degree in Economics and Accounting at Auckland University. I worked in beverages for multi nationals for many years and over time implemented two significant Corporate restructurings in Auckland and Singapore. I have a deep care for fair societal outcomes and would like to be part of shaping the future of Auckland

My priorities
  1. Ensure Council and council-controlled organisations are structured for optimal cost effective service delivery.
  2. Ensure city transport policies are seated in reality and are cost effective.
  3. Achieve a council policy to stop the cutting of Maunga Volcanic Cone trees and secure implementation.
