Auckland Council

Albert-Eden-Puketāpapa Ward
The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). Two councillors will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council election.

Why I'm standing

I am running because I want to listen to individuals and communities and represent them to the governing body of Auckland Council. I wish to have the opportunity to work with other councillors to bring about fundamental change to how Auckland Council operates, and to be part of independent decision-making, free of control from central government and its political parties to help Auckland achieve its potential of being one of the world's great cities.

About me

I'm a current Albert-Eden Local Board Member and a resource management lawyer with over 25 years' experience in sports management and public and transport policy, and have a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in economics and statistics. My broad range of qualifications and experience prepares me well for being a councillor, a role which involves listening to the community and ensuring that the community's concerns and aspirations are taken into account in council's decisions and actions.

My priorities
  1. Represent individuals and communities to the Auckland Council governing body.
  2. Bring about fundamental change to the way that Auckland Council operates.
  3. Provide rapid transit to the central city from all 19 mainland local board areas.
