The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). Two councillors will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Support council parks with appropriate funding to ensure all Auckland citizens have access to these resources.

    Support the existing structure of the Hauraki Gulf Forum to drive harbour and fishery protection and enhancement.

    Support improving waste minimisation policies within Auckland City including home compost, soft plastics recycling and general recycling.

  • Expand Pest Free Auckland plans and increase funding for local board initiatives to reduce pest plants and animals at a local level.

    Incentivise long-term, effective water conservation measures Auckland wide for residential, commercial and industrial users.

    Supplement the five yearly State of the Auckland Environment report with annual report cards.

  • We can promote the use of herbal remedies/medicine for our well-being and promote healthy living habits.

    Using herbal remedies to tackle New Zealand's cattle and sheep, methane emissions (anti-CH4).

    Cycling to and from work to reduce CO2 emissions from cars, and to tackle Auckland's traffic congestion.

  • Support and increase investment in biodiversity preservation and funding community initiatives and projects.

    Champion urban tree protections, with a goal to increase our tree canopy by 30%.

    Commit to the protection of waterways, maunga and green spaces, and ensure they are accessible to all.

  • Continue to promote integrated stormwater approaches that improve water quality in our awa (rivers) and moana (sea).

    Champion the Manukau Harbour on the Governing Body, working with mana whenua and the Manukau Harbour Forum.

    Support work to reinstate stronger tree protections, and planting and care for the newer trees that will become the next mature trees.
