Why I'm standing

A healthy natural environment and developing an appropriate response to climate change are key to our having productive industries and a high standard of living for our communities. I believe that my knowledge and experience, obtained in Aotearoa New Zealand and elsewhere, will enable me to provide a voice for the natural environment at the council table. I will thus be able to represent the the best interests of everyone.

About me

I am an author of nartural history books but also have experience building businesses and setting up and running charitable organisations, here in Aotearoa New Zealand, the UK and South America. I have good hands-on experience and understand the role of governance. For the past 12 years I have been heavily involved in two successful environmental conservation organisations in the Bay of Plenty. This knowledge and experience will be valuable in ensuring good outcomes for Bay of Plenty Regional Council.

My priorities
  1. Ensure council policies/actions are guided by our response to climate change, for everyone's long-term benefit.
  2. Make clean rivers and a pest free environment a council priority to benefit everyone.
  3. Develop a low emission, multi-modal, effective system of public transport, to benefit everyone.
