Why I'm standing

I believe people with the right skills should step forward for the benefit of the community. I have a deep knowledge across the roles the council plays, a passion for good governance, long term planning and strategy. This knowledge and experience will support good decision making from the Council. At 50 I am relatively young, have the time available to put in, and can commit for several terms to see things through.

About me

I have held national leadership roles across key regional council areas (RMA, environment, biosecurity). I've held senior business (Fonterra, BECA) and governance roles (schools, National Party) so "get" business, policy, strategy and good governance. I listen, I'm pragmatic and willing to hold myself, and others, accountable. I do what is right not what is politically expedient and am connected to many parts of the community through my culture, recreation, family and business.

My priorities
  1. Agreeing a path for implementing long term plans for water allocation and quality, and land use.
  2. Shifting Bay of Plenty Regional Council's climate change focus to adaptation to address future risks and liability.
  3. Organisational focus on delivering on core roles efficiently and effectively with accountability.
