The Central Otago District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 11 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). One councillor will be elected from the Teviot Valley ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Fix potholes in town. Simple.

    Maintain and improve our existing cycle trails for the benefit of both the local community and the tourism industry.

    Improve safety in and around pedestrian crossings in both Alexandra and Roxburgh, for a start.

  • Consider the pros and cons of an international airport at Tarras. Balancing economic growth with environmental and social outcomes.

    Maintain our district roads to a high standard so they are safe for road users.

    Continue to develop cycle trails to link communities to their local town.
