Banks Peninsula Ward
The Christchurch City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 16 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). One councillor will be elected from the Banks Peninsula ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Cycleways are safe for all that want to use them.

    EV charging spots are more readily available all over the city and Banks Peninsula.

  • Create living streets that provide safe spaces for cars, bikes, pedestrians and kids walking to school.

    Invest in our roading network across the Peninsula and link the Peninsula to an efficient and convenient public transport service.

    Ensure access to public transport is equitable, and support the network to be innovative.

  • Create policy to allow dogs on all forms of public transport.

    Establish transport pick up areas for cruise line visitors away from docks.

    Reduce the consultive timelines for the establishment of bike/walking trails.
