Hornby Ward
The Christchurch City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 16 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). One councillor will be elected from the Hornby ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Invest in rapid mass transport.

    Create Living Streets to slow down and calm traffic, providing safety to cyclists, pedestrians, children and other road users.

    Increase accessibility to alternative modes of transport such as e-bikes/scooters, buses, rapid mass transport.

  • Work with ECan to ensure better more efficient public transport is available to get us where we need to get when we need to get there.

    Reduce traffic congestion by delivering long overdue lights at Amyes/Springs/Awatea and right turn arrows as standard to improve flows.

    Make cycling safer throughout Hornby by looking to add more economic and better interconnected cycleways to get us around Hornby safely.
