Hornby Ward
The Christchurch City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 16 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). One councillor will be elected from the Hornby ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Commit to digital democracy to remove barriers of participation and enable the community to be involved.

    Work in partnership with tangata whenua and ensure inclusiveness, diversity and equity.

  • Ensure that when council consults it is open transparent and they really listen then act on the feedback given to satisfy the community!

    Give community boards who actually know their community better than council more delegation to do more for their community.

    Make council more efficient to lower unnecessary compliance burdens and costs to ratepayers thus lessening pressure on rates.
