Mayor of Christchurch

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. I want to regain people's trust in council and together get stuff done.

About me

I am the current Christchurch City Councillor for Burwood. Prior to that I ran our family business, Maugers Contracting, for more than 20 years. I have now resigned from my business to focus on running for Mayor. My number one priority is to rebuild people's trust in Council and to make Christchurch the best place to live, work, invest and play.

My priorities

  3. Look after our environment and deliver our core services better.
