Why I'm standing

My father significantly influenced my decision to run. He spoke on Stuff in March about his struggle to cope with the rising cost of living. The public response was immense. I realised I needed to act at a local level to address the growing divide, youth poverty and community disconnectedness. I also believe I have the life, facilitation, communication, and strategic skills to face and overcome the city's current and future challenges.

About me

My core values are family and community. I need to both to feel balanced. I believe the answers to many issues lies in the people themselves. I lived most of my life in Riccarton. I understand poverty's impact (as a child and a former lawyer) and the value of quality parenting, community and education for our youth. Much of my community work involved overcoming red tape to realise projects that will enrich community life.

My priorities
  1. Support community ownership of issues by listening, leadership training and increasing board power.
  2. Rebuild and replace aged infrastructure such as drainage, roads, paths, water pumps, parks, etc.
  3. Initiate council youth job schemes with govt funding for our youth to bring them off the benefit.
