Christchurch City Council

Riccarton Ward
The Christchurch City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 16 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). One councillor will be elected from the Riccarton ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Christchurch City Council election.

Why I'm standing

For a long time Riccarton has missed out on some great opportunities, I'm running because I want to raise my family in a ward that has everything on our doorstep. Clean roads, beautiful parks and awesome playgrounds. It's important that we innovate in our thinking to address the very real local issues that lie ahead of us. I wish to be a part of the change by bringing authentic and meaningful engagement.

About me

I am a small business owner by trade – I run a social enterprise based on providing access to sports to deprived communities, and I also run a consultancy business. I am a very optimistic, solutions-focused, people person who values collaboration, purpose and integrity. I have experience in many committees and water management groups. I am heavily involved in multicultural councils and celebrate diversity in all facets!

My priorities
  1. Ensure over-intensification is addressed and prevented in our suburbs while actioning climate change.
  2. Invest in rapid mass transport to create a functional public transport network for Christchurch.
  3. Fast tracking and streamlining our essential infrastructure projects to ensure a strong and future-proofed city.
