Spreydon Ward
The Christchurch City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 16 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). One councillor will be elected from the Spreydon ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Continue to push for the removal of chlorination of our water which were enforced on us by the central government.

    Seek more funding for Orana Park and Willowbank wild life reserve to boost their great work.

    Support building of more community gardens to provide for the needy as well as to beautify the garden city.

  • Ensure the council works with the regional council to ensure safe sources of drinking water across Christchurch and Banks Peninsula.

    Support biodiversity initiatives to regenerate native plants across our city and hills, and protect the habitats of native wildlife.

    Work towards cleaner waterways across Christchurch and Banks Peninsula, reducing contaminant infiltration and sediment pollution.
