Why I'm standing

I am typical of those in this area who live rurally on a lifestyle block, in my case a small family block with three generations, Kune Kune pigs, chooks and dogs. I represent a rural voice that is not only that of commercial interests in farming.

About me

I am a journalist by profession, former senior lecturer at AUT, and a union leader with 35 years experience of advocacy, tackling legal issues, ploughing through documents, and communicating in an accessible way with ordinary working people – all useful skills for our local board.

My priorities
  1. Plan for growth in a way that empowers communities and meets their needs.
  2. Offer more opportunities to meet kanohi ki te kanohi with locals to hear their views on services.
  3. Introduce mini-bus services to provide equitable access to trains and services in Pukekohe.
