Climate change and resilience

Climate change poses a huge challenge for communities as more frequent extreme weather events require us to rethink how we live and where. Local authorities are at the forefront of efforts to respond, with responsibilities for environmental planning and regulation, as well as civil defence. Many councils have plans to reduce emissions in their area and are working to help their communities adapt to a warming world.

  • Continue to educate, train and up-skill our people to be able to respond to civil defence emergencies.

Ensure our public buildings are safe and upgraded when needed to ensure they can stand up to risks including earthquakes.

  • Not up to council. This is an issue we must all take on board as individuals.

Commit to a massive improvement in our water supply.

I believe the civil defence structure in Paeroa is already quite robust.
