Why I'm standing

Recent circumstances mean I find myself with a combination of masses of relevant experience and knowledge and plenty of free time. It struck me, suddenly and very recently, that serving on council would not only be a productive way to use those things, but also allow my passion and energy to focus on something genuinely useful! I have had so much support that I know it's the right thing to do.

About me

I bring comprehensive knowledge of important aspects of the region, from mountains to coast, and the processes that affect them). Years of serving with community groups have made me a good listener and considerate to other people's points of view. The truth is important to me. While idealistic, I am well aware how protecting natural resources can be a burden to some people. I can bring patience, empathy and wisdom to the decision-making process.

My priorities
  1. Commit to programmes that improve biodiversity, as that best safeguards our long-term future.
  2. Provide incentives for protection of natural values on private land, to help spread the burden.
  3. Encourage habitat improvement along rivers and around wetlands, to improve overall water quality.
