Malvern Community Board

Hawkins Subdivision
The Malvern Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Selwyn District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of six members: five members elected by voters, including two members from your area, and one councillor from the Selwyn District council. There will be no election this year because there are the same number of candidates as there are positions. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Malvern Community Board election.

Housing and planning

Local councils are responsible for land use planning under the Resource Management Act, which affects where and how new houses are constructed, as well as the design of cities and towns. In some areas, councils also provide housing to those who need it most.

  • Homelessness is a plague on every society, but often caused by mental illness. How do you minimise that?

A responsible council should have council-owned and managed low cost housing. Correctly managed, it can work!

There is a great need to protect arable land and start investing in vertical housing.
