Feilding General Ward
The Manawatū District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 11 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Five councillors will be elected from the Feilding ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Whether public transport is the responsibility of the regional or local council depends on where you are in the country. Local councils also own 87% of New Zealand’s roads.

  • Increase public transport between towns to support workers.

    Commit to a pedestrian crossing at Aorangi and Kimbolton Road.

    Advocate for improvements to roads (potholes).

  • Lobby Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency to make intersections safer at State Highway 54 Kimbolton Rd and Waughs Rd intersections.

    Lobby NZ Rail and Palmerston North City Council to allow us to finish the cycleway to Palmerston North. Support Te Araroa and simple white line separation making road cycling safer.

    Support Feilding orbiter bus service, but should have smaller buses to improve viability.
