Mayor of Manawatū

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

As Mayor for the past six years, we need to keep the good work and direction of council going. I am concerned about central government reforms which risk losing communities' local voice and decision-making.

About me

I have driven positive community change in the Manawatū District for the past 27 years, previously as Feilding Promotion Manager and now as Mayor. I have an excellent understanding for the well-being of our residents, farmers and business community.

My priorities
  1. Retain local democracy so our community continue to have a say on what happens in our district.
  2. Maintain, promote and grow our primary sector as our key economic driver.
  3. Continue key infrastructure projects as the base to attract new residents, businesses and investment.
