Mayor of Manawatū

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Open up land for social housing and working along side MSD and Kāinga Ora to provide warm, safe houses for at risk people and families.

    Continue working together with our Manawatū Community Housing Trust and stepping up the work in providing homes for people to rent.

  • Finalise the district plan rural lifestyle and residential reviews to protect good soul and give a range of housing options.

    Lobby government to partner with council to build affordable housing.

    Change district plan business section to encourage inner town centre living.
