Marlborough District Council

Blenheim General Ward
The Marlborough District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also passes local regulations and makes decisions about infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage, and about the region’s resources, including water, soil and the coastline. The council is made up of 14 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Seven councillors will be elected from the Blenheim ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Marlborough District Council election.

Why I'm standing

Marlborough born, I'm invested in this community's wellbeing. Over the last four years I have regularly attended council meetings as a member of the public committed to see what's going on and where priorities lie. We have a wealth of resources that we need to protect and nourish so the region thrives economically, culturally and environmentally. I connect people and ideas and get things done to ensure a healthy connected community is accessible for everyone.

About me

I have financial, community and stakeholder engagement experience. As as a board member on seven local and national boards, I understand research, strategy and governance. Locally I managed the Multicultural Centre and sit on the Community Grants committee. I will listen and be your voice.

My priorities
  1. Increase the stock of affordable housing. Improving water, sanitation and community engagement.
  2. Revitalise the CBD. Create a vibrant, attractive place to meet, eat live and shop together as locals.
  3. Transparent, inclusive council engagement with citizens of Marlborough. People at the heart of policy.
