Masterton District Council

Masterton District At Large
The Masterton District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of eight councillors and the mayor. This election is for the three councillors elected by all voters in the district. The other councillors will be elected to represent wards (areas in the district). This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Masterton District Council election.

Why I'm standing

Our people and the future of Masterton are important to me. My vision for Masterton is a growing town with places and spaces to celebrate our diversity, iwi, our past and our future. As a councillor I give 100 percent and get things done. I am solution-focused, strategic and collaborative, I believe in listening, thinking then action. Communities must lead the way, we must analyse what can we afford.

About me

I am in business locally. I bring 22 years working in community development roles including Manukau City Council and an external contract for eight years for Masterton District Council. You immerse yourself in the community, and you hear the needs and wants. You see and experience the real issues facing our residents. Currently, I am the National Funding and Project Manager for People First NZ, a disabled people's organisation. I established Lansdowne Residents Association.

My priorities
  1. Repeal Three Waters as lack of opportunity to have our say in such a large entity.
  2. Review the decision and actions with regard to the civic centre.
  3. Engage with the community at every opportunity, we need to build a partnership.
