Mayor of Masterton

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. I believe I bring a particular diversity and passion for Masterton District. I am not just a business owner, but my former role and connections as an MP and my affiliation to both iwi of Wairarapa set me apart from the other candidates. I am both pragmatic and progressive, and a collaborative leader.

About me

I have stood for office in the recent past representing the people of NZ as a list MP for six and a half years. I moved to Masterton for work returning to my maternal turangawaewae. Hard working and determined to succeed for the people of Masterton is why I would make a great mayor.

My priorities
  1. Three Waters.
  2. Rates affordability.
  3. Climate change – environmental sustainability.
