Matamata General Ward
The Matamata-Piako District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Four councillors will be elected from the Matamata ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Fully reopen SwimZone Matamata.

    Ensure there is proper support for problem gambling and drinking.

  • Support the construction of a new sports stadium in Matamata.

    Initiate a long term refresh of the Matamata Pool Complex.

    Champion the library system as a hub of our communities.

  • Bring all public buildings up to code. Make buildings free to hire on weekends to promote public use. Host more public events, free to enter.

    Make liquor licensing more stringent, limiting possible candidates and limiting hours of trade. Promote responsible consumption.
