Porirua City Council

Parirua Māori Ward
The Porirua City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 10 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). One councillor will be elected from the Parirua ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Porirua City Council election.

    Strong advocation for our netball community. Would like to see something happening up at Kapi Mana Netball Courts.

  • Build safe well lit recreation spaces in our less affluent areas. Ensure those communities have a hand in the planning of those spaces.

    Create safe user friendly spaces for our whānau that are less physically able to enjoy and maintain their hauora.

    Develop a flagship event that shines a light on Porirua and our rich Māori culture, eg waka taua regatta etc.
