Arrowtown-Kawarau Ward
The Queenstown-Lakes District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 11 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Three councillors will be elected from the Arrowtown-Kawarau ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Maintain an airport presence in Queenstown and Wānaka, enabling community connectivity to the country, providing civil defence resilience.

  • Work with central government on more funding to plan our roads better to alleviate congestion. Encourage alternative means of transport.

    More planning and investment on public transport to make it reliable and viable. Subsidised rates and free bus service especially at peak hours.

    Look at free shuttle services for tourist spots. These would be available frequently for people to hop on and off at regular spots.

  • Educate around the challenges of walking and cycling around the region, specifically the way some roads act like prison walls.

    Canvas the community to generate current needs and wants of moving around the region.

    Educate on how to solve the traffic challenge together by everyone taking an action and working to make the lives of all easier.
