Why I'm standing

Given the government's reform program, I'm concerned about the future of local democracy. I want to do my bit to ensure our council is trusted and valued and worth fighting for – to ensure we retain the ability to shape our communities.

About me

I'm a councillor and water activist. I have a varied background, including an education in science, teaching, and outdoor education. I also have experience in planning, law and community advocacy. I co-founded Aotearoa Water Action in 2017. My approach to governance is 'hands on' and constructive. I've got a lot of knowledge and plenty of ideas to share with a refreshed council team.

My priorities
  1. Ensure the community gets to have a constructive conversation about limits to tourism growth.
  2. Ensure the Ten Year Plan is 'carbon costed' and meets our carbon reduction targets.
  3. Plan for a 'Climate Change' Plan Change with a view to driving emissions reduction and resilience.
