Saddle Hill Community Board

The Saddle Hill Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Dunedin City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of six members. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Whether public transport is the responsibility of the regional or local council depends on where you are in the country. Local councils also own 87% of New Zealand’s roads.

    Lobby for the use of smaller buses in off-peak hours and more efficient routes.

    Make sure all pathways are clearly separated from roadways and safe for walking.

  • Support and encourage affordable and reliable public transport between population centres.

    Protect and secure Brighton/Taieri Mouth roading from erosion.

    Secure provision of school bus services.

  • Advocate for safer walking tracks in the Saddle Hill area – such as alongside the road.

    Advocate for public engagement in how our local parks and recreation areas are used, should be used, or can be improved.
