Selwyn District Council

Malvern Ward
The Selwyn District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 10 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Two councillors will be elected from the Malvern ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I am running for council because I am a young, energetic person with fresh ideas, who can be a good representative for my ward. My background in science, engineering and project management has given me the skills to be part of a team where I can work towards fairer distribution of revenue for ratepayers. I have a passion for supporting communities and can bring a fresh perspective to council decisions, with a focus on sustainability.

About me

I would be a good councillor because through my professional working life, I have acquired the skills and experience to assess situations, work with others to find solutions and I am committed to devoting the time and energy needed to represent my constituents. I have experience running community organisation as I sit on the Board of Directors for a non profit organisation and am also an Associate Member of the Institute of Directors.

My priorities
  1. Establish a sustainable plan so future infrastructure projects consider the effects of climate change
  2. Allocate rates back into rural communities to modernise amenities to improve community wellbeing.
  3. Establish sustainable, cost effective infrastructure that provides long term safe drinking water.
