Lakes-Murchison Ward
The Tasman District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also passes local regulations and makes decisions about infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage, and about the region’s resources, including water, soil and the coastline. The council is made up of 13 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). One councillor will be elected from the Lakes-Murchison ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I have a proven track record as an honest and hardworking councillor, committed to ensuring the preservation of our environment and advocating strongly for our rural communities. My priorities are to keep rates as affordable as possible, the improvement and maintenance of rural roads, the protection and enhancement of infrastructure such as water, wastewater and stormwater services, and the preservation and improvement of local community facilities.

About me

I am a farmer and business owner, and currently the Deputy Mayor for Tasman District Council. I have been a Murchison-Lakes Ward Councillor for 23 years. I seek your support to continue providing positive, conscientious and accessible representation.

My priorities
  1. Meeting housing demand thru the provision of housing, zoning, land development and proactive planning.
  2. Protection of productive land and our natural environment.
  3. Responding to severe weather events, climate change and building community resilience.
